Beautifully stated, Edie. It is so much easier to dream of the dream and let it slip away rather than ‘going for it’. Thank you for your reminder and example that my dreams are truly valid and important…at least to me…and that’s all that matters.

Awesome post, Edie! No doubt, this is the most intimidating Bully there is. Unfortunately I know I allow it to color distinctions in my life that do not even exist. They are merely beliefs that are way off base.

“Take the brake off” I love that phrase and I know you Stretchy, you are amazing with the brake on so I look forward to more of what you do with it off.

You are so right, the importance of mentors is huge, even if you are a teacher yourself.

We hold onto too many self-limiting beliefs and self-doubt, causing a failure to commit to expressing our creativity, indeed leaving us in the despair of inactivity or mediocrity, literally driving our life with the brake on.

I’m learning more and more to take that brake off but it’s difficult and one of the reasons as the Bible points out – we need a guide. For too long I was the teacher and had no mentor in my life, since I have rectified that I am beginning to let my light shine and express my purpose, leaving self-doubt, shame and guilt in the rear view mirror and not looking back at the obstacles they were other than to smile cheerily and wave to them. I also have a daily reminder which I discovered whilst studying the writings of Pope John Paul II ” Ad maiora natus sum — I was born for greater things.”

Edie you are one of the guides that has helped me turn the fog lamps off and get over the speed bumps holding me back from living a purposeful life – thank you and thank you for an inspiring post.

Interesting point Linda about five over not really speeding . What if “we” went five over our own limitations without thinking it of it as really pushing it?
