What Happens When You Fail?

So many things we don’t try for fear of failing. Often getting caught up in the what ifs.

This week Diana Nyad “failed” to accomplish her goal of being the first to swim from Cuba to Florida without a shark cage.

This was no small goal, Diana is 61 years old, it took two years of planning and training and many people involved to make it happen. Her journey is totally inspiring.

When we imagine failing to reach our goal we often imagine the absolute worst situation. Her attitude after ending this quest is as inspiring as the journey itself. I was brought to tears at the end of this video, when Diana is not at all caught up in what was her journey or goal, she is busy supporting others around her, she is one amazingly courageous woman!

Did she fail? Her goal was to swim from Cuba to Florida and she didn’t accomplish that, she did however accomplish so many things that would not have happened otherwise; it shows just how much success can come from failing. While she may feel disappointment at not reaching the goal, the biggest disappointment would be in never having tried.  Accomplishing a goal is not always about just reaching the goal even when you do. It is about the person you become in order to reach it and all the impact you make in working toward it.  What will you step out and do?

What Obstacle is Stopping You?

Obstacles in your mind are smaller than they seem.

What do you think about that keeps you from doing what you want to do?

Do you remember when you wanted to ride a bike and how hard it seemed like it would be? How about driving a car, big and scary right? Things you do now without even thinking about them.

I bet you can come up with a few things that once seemed beyond your reach that you do with ease now.

When we think about doing things they can seem much bigger and more difficult than when we actually do them.

How about you, do you have something you want to do now that the obstacles in your mind are holding you back from?

Do You Have the Courage to “Strikeout”?

You gotta be willing to strikeout if you want to hit home runs.

Have you ever seen someone doing something successfully and thought, I want to do that? How many people want to be Oprah?

But how many times do you give something a try only to hit a few strikes and decide it is not for you?
Or maybe you decide even before you try, you know it is not for you because (fill in the blank).

Have you ever asked Steven Spielberg or Tom Brady how many times they struck out? We often see the results and miss the process.

Fear of not being good enough, not doing or knowing the right thing, not (fill in the blank) keeps us from trying so many things in our lives.

What would you do if you knew striking out did not matter?

(Steven Spielberg applied to University of Southern California, School of Film three times and was not admitted. Tom Brady was a sixth round draft pick, the 199th player picked in the 2000 draft. Not exactly home run starts.)

One Degree…That Is All It Takes

One Degree…That Is All It Takes

The difference that makes the difference? One degree that is all it takes.

One degree takes water from hot to boiling. Hot water can be useful, boiling water changed the world.

What appears to take unbelievable change or effort often does not. Losing weight, finding more clients, increasing your income, a better relationship, whatever your desire is, one degree of change can make all the difference in the world. It may look like it will take some Herculean effort but it is quite often the little changes that make the difference.

What one degree of change separates you from what you want?

Could it be an extra half hour of client calls, or exercise, or meditation? Or maybe one extra happy thought every morning, one less critical thought toward yourself, or one kind gesture toward a family member every day.

Imagine the possibilities…..How could one degree change your life?

It is Not OK, You Deserve More!

I cannot begin to tell you how many people I have spoken to recently who tell me with great enthusiasm how they have finally found their passion and purpose in life. Then, with a total lack of enthusiasm, they explain to me how much it is costing them because they believe in it and want to make a difference, but they have not found a way to work it that supports them.

It is not ok to be able to work your passion and purpose without making money! Making money does not have to be hard; money can come easy and you can have fun making money. It is ok to love what you do and make money. You can give and receive.

If you have found your passion and purpose, that is absolutely wonderful! If you have not created a way for it to support you, that is not ok. Ask yourself this, “Are there other people and/or companies doing the same or similar things profitably? Chances are the answer is yes, and that means something is holding you back from being in the same position. You deserve more!

Whatever holds you back has got to go—whether it is limited money beliefs, or fears which often masquerade as many other seemingly valid reasons. It is time for you to be successful! The time is now not only because you bringing your passion and purpose to life is important, the time is now because there are many other people that desperately need exactly what you have to offer. Your success helps others be successful as well.

What beliefs would you have to let go of to bring your passion and purpose to life so you can have a bigger impact? What would you have to be open to in order to have your passion and purpose bring money into your life and support you beautifully?

Do you think is it time for your passion and purpose to support you?

STOP Thinking START Doing!

Do your find yourself waiting to take action on the very things that could lead to your success?

Do you find yourself filling your time with busy work rather than the work that would really lead to your goals or desires?

Do you find yourself waiting for the “right time” when you have more, know more, etc?

Do you find reasons you are just not ready to do what your really want to do?
